Chennai Super Kings have signed South African batting all-rounder Dian Forrester as a replacement for Jamie Overton for the rest of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. Overton was ruled out of the tournament after suffering a right thigh injury during CSK’s match against Lucknow Super Giants in Chennai on May 10.

The IPL confirmed the replacement on Thursday through an official statement shared on X. According to the release, Forrester will join CSK for INR 75 lakh. The South African all-rounder made his international debut against New Zealand in March 2026 and has played five international matches so far, scoring 83 runs.

“Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have picked a player replacement for Jamie Overton, who has been ruled out of the remainder of the season due to a right thigh injury. Dian Forrester will join CSK for INR 75 lakh as a replacement for Overton. Forrester, an all-rounder from South Africa, made his debut in March 2026 against New Zealand and has featured in 5 international games, scoring 83 runs," the release stated.

Overton’s absence is a big setback for Chennai Super Kings, as he had been one of the team’s top performers this season. The England all-rounder played 10 matches for CSK, scoring 136 runs and taking 14 wickets. He is currently the second-highest wicket-taker for the Chennai-based franchise in IPL 2026.

CSK's performance in IPL 2026

CSK had a roller coaster ride in IPL 2026 as the five-time champions are currently 5th in the tally with 12 points after 11 matches. The Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side have won six of their last eight games after losing their first three. Sanju Samson has played a crucial role for the franchise so far, scoring 304 runs. CSK will now face LSG in their upcoming clash in Lucknow.
