Ethics Policy

The Daily Jagran (“The Daily Jagran”, “Company”, “we”, “our” or “us”) is committed to upholding the highest standards of journalistic ethics, professional integrity, and responsible journalism in the operation of its digital news platforms. This Ethics Policy is framed in accordance with the Code of Ethics for Digital News Publishers prescribed under the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, and other applicable laws of India.

The editorial philosophy of Jagran is founded on the principles of truth, independence, fairness, accountability, public interest, and respect for the law. All editorial personnel are expected to adhere strictly to this policy while creating, editing, publishing, or distributing content.

  1. Accuracy and Truthfulness

Jagran is committed to publishing information that is accurate, verified, and presented in its proper context. News content is based on credible sources and subjected to reasonable editorial verification before publication. The deliberate publication of false information, distortion of facts, misrepresentation, or fabrication of content is strictly prohibited. Errors, when identified, are addressed promptly in accordance with Jagran’s Correction Policy.

  2. Editorial Independence

Editorial decisions at Jagran are taken independently and are free from undue political, commercial, corporate, or personal influence. The newsroom functions autonomously from business, advertising, and marketing operations. Sponsored content, native advertising, and branded material are clearly and prominently identified to ensure that readers can easily distinguish such content from independent editorial reporting.

  3. Fairness and Balance

Jagran strives to ensure fairness, balance, and impartiality in its reporting, particularly on matters of public importance. Where allegations, criticism, or adverse claims are made against individuals, institutions, or organizations, reasonable efforts are made to seek and publish their version or response, unless impractical due to time constraints or other legitimate reasons. Reporting is conducted in a manner that avoids bias, prejudice, or one sided narratives.

  4. Non Discrimination and Responsible Expression

Jagran does not publish content that promotes or incites hatred, violence, enmity, or discrimination on the basis of religion, caste, community, gender, race, ethnicity, nationality, disability, sexual orientation, or political belief. All content is evaluated to ensure compliance with applicable laws relating to public order, decency, morality, and social harmony, and is consistent with the constitutional limitations under Article 19(2) of the Constitution of India.

  5. Privacy and Sensitivity

Jagran respects the privacy, dignity, and reputation of individuals. Special care is taken while reporting on matters involving children, victims of sexual offences, victims of crime, and individuals in sensitive or vulnerable situations. Personal information is not disclosed unless such disclosure is lawful and clearly justified by an overriding public interest. Reporting is conducted with empathy, restraint, and sensitivity.

  6. Conflict of Interest

Editorial staff are required to disclose any actual or potential conflict of interest that may compromise, or appear to compromise, their independence or impartiality. Journalists and editors must avoid assignments or coverage where personal, financial, professional, or familial interests could influence editorial judgment. Any such conflicts must be promptly reported to editorial leadership.

  7. Responsible Reporting

Jagran exercises heightened caution and responsibility while reporting on sensitive subjects, including but not limited to crimes, criminal investigations, court proceedings, national security matters, communal or religious issues, and matters affecting public order. Content is published in a manner that does not interfere with ongoing investigations, judicial processes, or national security interests. Speculation, sensationalism, exaggeration, or inflammatory language is strictly avoided.

  8. Accountability and Compliance

Jagran remains accountable to its readers and stakeholders and is committed to complying with all applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards governing digital news media in India. Complaints or concerns relating to ethical issues are addressed through the Grievance Redressal mechanism in accordance with the IT Rules, 2021.
