Punjab Kings (PBKS) openers Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya created history during the IPL 2026 clash against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the HPCA Stadium on Thursday. The young pair became the first uncapped opening duo in IPL history to complete more than 1000 partnership runs together.

The two batters once again gave Punjab Kings a strong start by adding 50 runs for the first wicket inside the powerplay. Their partnership ended in the final over of the powerplay when Deepak Chahar dismissed Priyansh Arya for 22 runs.

Despite the early dismissal, Priyansh achieved another important milestone. The left-handed batter became only the second uncapped Indian player after Ambati Rayudu to score more than 350 runs in each of his first two IPL seasons. He had scored 475 runs in IPL 2025 and has already crossed 350 runs again this season.

Meanwhile, Prabhsimran Singh continued his brilliant form with the bat. The aggressive opener smashed his second half-century of IPL 2026, reaching the milestone with a huge six in the 11th over. He played an attacking innings of 57 runs from just 32 balls, hitting six boundaries and four sixes during his knock.

However, his entertaining innings came to an end in the next over when Shardul Thakur picked up his wicket.

Prabhsimran becomes 3rd uncapped Indian player to do so

With another strong season, Prabhsimran also entered an elite list. The Punjab Kings batter became only the third uncapped Indian player after Suryakumar Yadav and Abhishek Sharma to score more than 400 runs in multiple IPL seasons.

Thanks to Prabhsimran’s fluent fifty and some useful contributions from the lower middle order, Punjab Kings managed to post a competitive total of 200/8 against Mumbai Indians.
