After dominating the box office earlier this year, the sequel to the legendary 1997 film is finally transitioning from the silver screen to the small screen. Released in cinemas on January 23, 2026, Border 2 was timed perfectly to coincide with the Republic Day holiday week in India.

Directed by Anurag Singh, the film quickly became a commercial powerhouse. The sequel features an impressive ensemble cast, led by the iconic Sunny Deol, alongside Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty. The film’s theatrical run was nothing short of historic. According to industry trackers, the war epic amassed a staggering Rs 449.65 crore at the worldwide box office.

Based on real events from the 1971 Indo-Pak war, the film serves as a spiritual successor to the 1997 original. The trailer, which was released in mid-January, has already garnered over 78 million views, proving that the appetite for stories of military valour remains as strong as ever. Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, and the Dutta family, the film is being hailed as a fitting tribute to the Indian Armed Forces.
