Salim Khan, a veteran scriptwriter, was released from Lilavati Hospital on Tuesday after being admitted on February 17 due to a mild brain hemorrhage. The 90-year-old is one half of the well-known Salim-Javed team, who wrote screenplays for movies including Don, Deewar, and Sholay alongside Javed Akhtar.

"Salim Khan has been discharged. The discharge process has been completed, but he is still in the hospital," a source told PTI on Tuesday.

Salim Khan's brain hemorrhage was treated a day after he was admitted, according to hospital doctors, and he was placed on ventilator support as a precaution. He was frequently visited in the hospital by his children, including superstars Salman Khan and Arbaaz Khan, daughters Alvira and Arpita, and sons-in-law Atul Agnihotri and Aayush Sharma.

Salim Khan's longtime friend and former screenplay partner Javed Akhtar was also seen at the hospital, as were Salman's industry colleagues Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan.

Salim Khan, who came to Mumbai in his 20s with aspirations of becoming famous, came from a wealthy family in Indore. Despite his heroic looks, he was unable to establish himself as a successful actor. The veteran screenwritechanged careers after working hard for over ten years and being limited to little parts in movies.

Salim Khan was Abrar Alvi's assistant before meeting Akhtar and forming one of the most powerful literary collaborations in Hindi film. They collaborated on two dozen films, the majority of which were blockbusters. Following his split with Javed Akhtar in 1982, he worked solely on movies like Naam, Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya and Auzaar.
