Singer Dua Lipa recently tied the knot with British actor Callum Turner in a private civil ceremony in London. Following their wedding, the couple hosted an extravagant three-day celebration in Italy. While the event attracted attention for its luxury and star power, it also sparked controversy after local residents raised concerns about the disruptions caused during the festivities.

Dua Lipa And Callum Turner’s Luxury Wedding Celebration Held in Sicily

After exchanging vows the couple reportedly had a lavish wedding celebration near Palermo in Sicily in Italy. According to reports, around $1.7 million (roughly Rs 16.5 crore) was spent on the event.

Several iconic venues, including Villa Valguarnera and Galleria d'Arte Moderna, were used to host wedding-related functions and private gatherings attended by guests.

Dua Lipa’s Wedding Celebration Restrictions Lead To Public Frustration

Authorities allegedly imposed a number of restrictions to protect the privacy and security of the celebrations. Roads were temporarily closed, access to some public areas was restricted and drone activity banned. In some parts of the city, additional security personnel were deployed.

Reports said in some places, only wedding guests were allowed, making it difficult for residents to go about their daily business. These measures are said to have caused increasing frustration among the locals.

 

 

Residents Stage Protests Against Dua Lipa And Callum Turner’s Wedding Celebration

Eventually, the restrictions led to protests by residents who believed public spaces should be for everyone. Protesters carried banners that read the city is for its people and should not be treated as a private venue.

The protests centred on the inconvenience experienced at the high-profile event and garnered widespread media coverage.

Dua Lipa And Callum Turner Reportedly Pay Compensation

According to a report by The Sun, the couple later provided compensation worth $6,500 (around Rs 6.3 lakh) to those affected by the disruptions linked to the wedding celebrations. The payment was reportedly intended to help address complaints and ease tensions following the controversy.
