The sons of former India cricketers Rahul Dravid and Virender Sehwag have earned places in India’s squad for the upcoming ACC Men’s U19 Asia Cup. Karnataka’s Anvay Dravid and Delhi’s Aaryavir Sehwag were named in the 15-member squad on Friday for the tournament, which will be held in Muscat, Oman, from November 5 to 14.
Both youngsters have been in impressive form in the recently concluded Vinoo Mankad Trophy, where their performances helped them catch the selectors’ attention.
Anvay Dravid Impresses With Big Scores
Seventeen-year-old Anvay has shown his ability to score quickly and play big innings. Earlier this month, he smashed 151 off just 100 balls as Karnataka chased down a target of more than 300 runs against Gujarat in the U19 competition.
He had also made an impression on the international stage in July, scoring 87 off 67 balls against Sri Lanka in a Youth ODI at Hambantota.
Aaryavir Sehwag Also In Strong Form
Aaryavir, 19, has also enjoyed a productive run with the bat. Representing Delhi in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy, he produced a brilliant innings of 173 off 143 deliveries against Chandigarh at Vizianagaram.
His consistent performances have earned him a place alongside Anvay in India’s squad for the continental tournament.
India Placed In Group A With Pakistan
India will be led by Lakshya Raichandani and have been placed in Group A alongside Pakistan, Nepal and the UAE.
Group B features Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Malaysia. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals, with the tournament set to run from November 5 to 14 in Muscat.
