Katie Zacharia shared a heartfelt message on Saturday following her sudden exit from the Trump administration after just five days in the role as White House Press Secretary. In her statement, she praised US President Donald Trump as a kind, gracious, and exceptionally hardworking leader, asserting that no one else could make America great the way he has.

Zacharia Praises Trump

In a post on X, Zacharia expressed deep appreciation for her time in the administration. She stated that she wishes more Americans appreciated him, declaring that "no one will ever make America great the way he has and continues to." Reflecting on her time in the role, Zacharia concluded by emphasising that it was a true honour to work for Trump.

“President Trump is a kind, wonderful, gracious, thoughtful, enthusiastic, and hardworking man. I wish more Americans appreciated him. No one will ever make America great the way he has and continues to. It was an honor to work for him,” she wrote. Her departure followed a rocky debut before reporters, mounting questions regarding her professional credentials and a public suggestion from Trump that she reconsider the position.

Why Was She Fired?

Reports of her being fired from the role had surfaced on Friday. Trump had also offered an explanation before departing for Georgia. Speaking to reporters on the White House South Lawn on Friday, Trump stated that he had personally advised Zacharia to reconsider whether she wanted to continue in the demanding position. He emphasised that the media had treated her unfairly, adding that she did not need to endure the immense pressure associated with the role.

“I told Katie in my opinion she was treated very unfairly,” Trump said, adding that she had been “brutalised by the media”. “I just think the press has been very tough on Katie and I said, 'there's no reason you have to go through this,'” he further stated.

Rocky Debut As Press Secy

Earlier in the week, Zacharia had a rocky debut in the White House briefing room. Her first session lasted only 14 minutes, during which she took questions from just three media outlets. She relied heavily on pre-written notes that praised the president and his administration instead of smoothly handling general questions. Her brief tenure also faced intense scrutiny over her professional background. Questions mounted regarding her credentials and her readiness for such a high-pressure public job.
