The partnership is turning to Airtel’s telecom-grade network intelligence integrated with Google RCS messaging platform to help consumers deal with increasing spam and digital fraud. Built in AI monitoring, sender verification and advanced suspicious content filtering will be integrated into the new system for Android users via the Google Messages app.

Google Hello Integrates RCS with Airtel for Secure Messaging

As part of the partnership, Bharti Airtel is integrating its AI-powered spam detection systems with Google’s RCS platform. This migration allows businesses to manage their messages on the fly in real time, validate authoritative sources that sent the messages, and filter out and leave behind likely unwanted or harmful content to find customers.

Android users can access it through the Google Messages app and enjoy core RCS features like sharing high-resolution media, typing indicators, read receipts, and message reactions.

Proven Anti-Spam Track Record

Airtel looked to showcase the scale of its existing anti-spam infrastructure, claiming that its AI systems have so far blocked 71 billion spam calls and 2.9 billion spam SMS over the last year-and-a-half. The company claims these efforts have led to a 68.7 percent decrease in the value of reported financial losses suffered on its network. Airtel said some non-permissive over-the-top messaging platforms are still without telecom-grade security heat prevention, leaving gaps in user protection.

Multi-Layer Safeguards for Business Messaging

The new RCS-based system brings additional layers of security, such as telecom-backed verification for business senders and enforcement of Do Not Disturb preferences. Messages will now be labelled as promotional or transactional; spam business messages can be blocked and malicious links (attacks like phishing) will also be filtered through to a multi-layer threat detection system, powered by Airtel and Google’s AI models.
