Despite boasting billions of users around the world, Google Chrome remains the most commonly used browser worldwide but there are plenty of alternatives growing in popularity. Samsung Browser was formerly known as Samsung Internet Browser and is still another option. The browser is pre-installed on devices from Galaxy as well as available for download through the Google Play Store. The Samsung Browser is known for its extensive customisation options and support for extensions, but some new features are incoming for the browser, including multi-window browsing, AI assistance and cross-device inputs in One UI 9.

Samsung Browser Could Add Multi-Window Browsing

According to reports, Samsung Browser is expected to introduce a multi-window, split-screen browsing experience with One UI 9.

This feature will allow users to open multiple browser windows simultaneously and view different websites at the same time instead of switching between tabs.

Key highlights of the feature include:

- Ability to run two browser windows side by side

- Easier multitasking between different websites

- Improved productivity while browsing

On larger devices such as the Galaxy Z Fold 7, users may even be able to run three active Samsung Browser windows at the same time.

Although the feature is expected to arrive alongside One UI 9, it may not be exclusive to Samsung’s interface since a similar capability already exists in Chrome for Android.

Ask AI Feature May Bring Smart Browsing Assistance

Another upcoming feature reportedly being tested is called Ask AI. This feature appears to be powered by Perplexity and could integrate deeply with Samsung’s operating system.

The AI assistant is designed to analyse the content users are browsing and provide contextual answers and suggestions.

Unlike simple on-screen text analysis, the AI reportedly pulls information directly from the browser, including:

- Active webpage content

- Browsing history

- Potentially certain user data

A leaked demo video suggests that Samsung may include a toggle that allows users to control how long browsing activity data is stored.

Cross-Device Resume Feature Spotted

A new toggle called “Enable Cross-Device Resume” has also been discovered in a leaked version of Samsung Browser.

While the feature does not appear to be functional yet, it could allow users to instantly continue a browsing session across multiple devices. This might include transferring an open webpage or even an entire browsing session between devices.

It remains unclear how this feature will differ from the existing “Continue on other device” option already available on Samsung devices.

One UI 9 Release Timeline

The One UI 9 Beta program is expected to start in May. The rollout will probably start with the Galaxy S26 series and then broaden to include the Galaxy S25 lineup.

The next of Samsung's major software update(s) is also expected to come in time for it to be available on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 as well (which are due later this summer).
