The Hindi play 'LOI' was successfully and soulfully staged at Mumbai's renowned 'Veda Kunba Theatre'. Written by the eminent poet and lyricist Pratap Somvanshi and directed by Akashaditya Lama, the play sheds deep light on the life of 'Loi'-a fearless and rebellious woman from 15th-century Kashi, whom history primarily remembers as the companion of Saint Kabir. The co-director was Vikram TDR. The music for the play's songs was composed by the famous composer Kuldeep Singh.

'LOI': A Hindi Play Championing Women's Rights and Humanity

The play does not present 'Loi' merely as Kabir's wife or a silent disciple. Instead, it establishes her as an empowered woman who fiercely challenged the patriarchal mindset, religious hypocrisy, and caste-based discrimination of her time. Inspired by Shekhar Sen's solo play 'Kabir', Pratap Somvanshi has woven the character of Loi into a comprehensive narrative.
