- IMD issues yellow alert for Mumbai region.
- Hot, humid conditions expected until late October.
- Residents advised precautions; some relief possible later.
Mumbai and its neighbouring areas are expected to see no immediate relief as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday issued a yellow alert, forecasting hot and humid weather. According to the weather bulletin issued by the Regional Meteorological Centre in Colaba, covering October 22 to October 26, 2026, hot and humid conditions will prevail in the region before weather patterns turn predominantly dry across Maharashtra by the weekend.
Hot And Humid Weather In Mumbai, Thane, and Raigad; Rain Forecast For Konkan
Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, and Raigad are expected to experience hot and humid conditions during the initial days of the forecast period. Further south along the Konkan belt, districts including Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg may witness light rain or thundershowers, primarily during the afternoon or evening hours.
Kolhapur and its ghat sections are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall early in the forecast period.
Meanwhile, most other parts of Maharashtra, including Pune, Nashik, Jalgaon, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, and Vidarbha, are expected to remain mostly dry with no active weather warnings in place.
IMD Cautions Residents Against Possible Weather Risks
The weather department has warned that sudden rain, thunderstorms and strong gusty winds could trigger temporary disruptions in affected districts. Waterlogging in low-lying areas may slow down transit, causing delays across road, rail, and air travel.

Wind speeds reaching 30 to 40 kilometres per hour could break tree branches, knock down weak structures, and cause short power outages. Unseasonal rainfall also poses a threat to standing crops and plantations in rural sectors.
Advisory For Residents
- Authorities have advised residents to check traffic reports and local transport advisories before travelling.
- During thunderstorms, people should stay away from open fields, avoid taking shelter under tall trees, and keep clear of weak walls or old structures.
- Residents are also advised to unplug electronic appliances if lightning strikes nearby, stay away from water bodies, and closely monitor local weather updates.
