Drishyam 3 Digital Row Explained: On Thursday, Amazon Prime Video announced that it has the only digital rights to the upcoming Jeethu Joseph-directed Malayalam movie Drishyam 3, which stars Mohanlal. The public and industry participants have been cautioned by the streaming platform not to enter into any digital distribution agreements pertaining to the movie without its consent.

Amazon Prime Video Threatens Legal Action

Amazon Seller Services Private Limited claimed in a formal announcement that it is the only and exclusive owner of all Drishyam 3 digital rights, including SVOD, TVOD, AVOD, FVOD, and EST rights. The statement made it clear that no other entity, not even the movie's production company, Aashirvad Cinemas, is permitted to deal with the digital rights of the movie for commericial purpose.

Amazon Seller Services Private Limited issued a clear warning, stating that  and any of its licensees or assignees are not permitted to sell, grant licenses, or establish any third-party rights over Drishyam 3's digital rights.

 

 

The warning, which threatened legal action if ignored, cautioned the Drishyam 3 producer and all other parties involved from terminating any more digital agreements.

Amazon Prime Video currently owns the digital rights in terms of SVOD (subscription video on demand), where viewers can watch the film with a platform subscription fee; TVOD (transactional video on demand), where viewers rent the film; AVOD (ad-supported video on demand), where viewers must tolerate advertisements even with a subscription; FVOD (free video on demand), where viewers can watch without a subscription; and EST (electronic sell-through), where viewers can purchase the film without the expiration that comes with renting.

About Drishyam 3

Drishyam 3's planned April 2 release date has been rescheduled until May 21, which is Mohanlal's birthday. The third and last film in the Drishyam franchise, directed by Jeethu Joseph and produced by Antony Perumbavoor under Aashirvad Cinemas, carries on the Georgekutty plot with returning cast members.

For the unversed, Drishyam (2013) may be streamed on JioHotstar, but because of the COVID-19 epidemic, the 2021 sequel, Drishyam 2, was released straight on Prime Video.
