Who Is Joseph Duggar? Reality TV Star Arrested For Sexually Abusing 9-Year Old

Joseph Duggar, who gained notoriety as a member of the big Arkansas family that starred in the reality TV show 19 Kids and Counting, has been detained in Florida on suspicion of sexually abusing a minor, according to The New York Times. The accusations were based on events that allegedly happened in 2020 while a family vacation in Panama City Beach. The victim, who is currently 14 years old, claimed that she was just nine years old at the time.

Who Is Joseph Duggar?

Reality TV star Joseph Duggar was born on January 20, 1995. He has been married to Kendra Caldwell since September 8, 2017. They have three children - Addision, Garrett, and Brooklyn.

Joseph Duggar Arrested For Child Molestation

Investigators said that Joseph Duggar asked the child to sit on his lap, which is when the alleged assault started. The 31 year old actor was charged with inappropriate conduct beneath a blanket, including stroking the child's genitalia, according to TMZ and the Bay County Sheriff's Office. When the victim's father approached Duggar in March 2026, the claimed behaviour led to a police inquiry.

The alleged victim provided consistent and in-depth accounts of the crimes, which happened while the family was on vacation, according to the Bay County Sheriff's Office. Joseph Duggar reportedly apologised to the girl directly at the moment. The family gave investigators their full cooperation, supporting the case with statements and evidence.

Nearly five years have passed since Joseph Duggar's brother, Josh Duggar, was sentenced to more than 12 years in jail in a different case involving child sexual abuse materials, bringing the family under fresh scrutiny. 

The Duggar family gained notoriety due to their reality television presence, and the arrest is only one of several problems surrounding them.
