Sanjay Dutt appeared before the National Commission for Women (NCW) on Monday, April 27 over a controversy linked to the song Sarke Chunar Teri. The track, from the upcoming film KD: The Devil, faced backlash for its lyrics. Following public criticism and a summons by the commission, the actor attended the hearing in Delhi and issued an apology.
Why The Sarke Chunar Song Controversy Began?
The song Sarke Chunar Teri starring Sanjay Dutt and Nora Fatehi created a massive controversy soon after its release. Many people objected to its lyrics and visuals, calling them inappropriate. The criticism quickly spread on social media, leading to widespread debate.
NCW Issues Summons To Sanjay Dutt for Hearing
Taking note of the matter, the National Commission for Women sent a notice to Sanjay Dutt. The commission raised concerns about alleged vulgarity in the song and asked the actor to appear for a hearing.

On Monday April 27, Sanjay Dutt reached the NCW office in Jasola, Delhi, to attend the hearing. After the session, he chose not to respond to media questions and left quietly.

Lawyer Said Actor Apologises, Claims Unawareness
Sanjay Dutt’s lawyer, Hemant Shah, stated to ANI that the actor respects women and the commission. He also revealed that during the hearing the actor seeked apology and said he was not aware of the objectionable words in the song. Despite not knowing about the lyrics, he offered an unconditional apology.

Additional Gesture By The Actor
As a goodwill step, Sanjay Dutt also offered to support the education of 50 children from tribal communities. His legal team mentioned that the song was originally recorded in another language.
Song Removed, Film Release Date
Following the backlash, the song was removed from online platforms. The film KD: The Devil, featuring Dhruva Sarja, Sanjay Dutt, Kichcha Sudeep, Shilpa Shetty and Nora Fatehi, is set to release on April 30, 2026.
