Dhurandhar has been riding high since its premiere earlier this month mostly because of its daring plot, inspired by true events. In the film, Ranveer Singh plays an Indian operative in Pakistan who joins Rehman Dakait's (Akshaye Khanna) group. Real-life characters, such as criminals Rehman and Uzair Baloch (Danish Pandore) and Karachi SP Aslam Chaudhary (Sanjay Dutt), are used in the film to merge fiction and reality. In addition to receiving accolades for its outstanding cast and performances, the movie has generated a lot of controversy, particularly over how it depicts international conflict and events that are inspired by real life.
Dhurandhar has garnered notice from those across borders. A Pakistani viewer said he was uncomfortable with the glorification of real-life gangster Rehman Dakait, although he did applaud the spy movie's overall aspect.
"My take on Dhurandar as a guy from Pakistani and Karachite (sic)" was the title of the viewer's critique for the spy thriller movie. He stated that he was troubled by the glorification of Rehman Dakait. He wrote, "Dhurandhar is a great movie acting wise and character wise but the story was very much fiction. Rehman dakait was not as badass as he is shown in the movie, he did kill many people in much brutal ways but the way he is shown is just being glorified as a murderer that he was."
"He was killed by chaudhry aslam, in what the news called a staged encounter, rehman and there men were captured when they were returning from balochistan according to her wife on 9th august and killed on 10th near a steel mill," read a part of the review. The user lauded the makers for presenting the Karachi environment. " The karachi part shown in the movie was great, it did resemble the real karachi at that time during the gang wars. Also the karachi environment created was great."
