Aishwarya Mohanraj has come under fire after an old clip from the comedy reality show Comicstaan resurfaced on social media. The video, which is being widely shared on X (formerly Twitter), featured a joke about mutilating baby boys, triggering sharp reactions online. While many users have called the remark disturbing and offensive, others have defended it as comedy, reigniting the debate around the limits of humour and selective outrage.

Aishwarya Mohanraj's remarks go viral amid heightened scrutiny of stand-up comedy content in India. As the clip continued to circulate online, discussions centred on creative freedom, accountability, and whether certain topics should be off-limits.

Aishwarya Mohanraj's Old Joke On 'Mutilating Baby Boys'

Aishwarya Mohanraj made a joke about her brother's birth in the widely shared video, saying that her mother grieved because she was unable to cut his privates. She then joked about fulfilling her mother's wish when she eventually had a baby boy.

Many social media users have criticised not just the joke but also the audience reaction in the resurfaced Comicstaan clip. Several posts pointed out that the punchline revolved around the mutilation of a male child, questioning why such humour was met with laughter and applause at the time. The clip has since reignited conversations around what should be considered acceptable in the name of comedy.

Internet Slams Stand-Up Comedian Aishwarya Mohanraj

The backlash has been particularly sharp on social media platforms, where users argued that the response would have been very different had a male comedian made a similar joke about a female child. Many called out what they described as a double standard, claiming that certain remarks attract outrage and scrutiny while others are often overlooked depending on who delivers them.

A user wrote, "So every pervert psycho can become a stand up comedian by making jokes on male/female genitals?? Think about those assholes who are sitting as audience and applauding her.. Mere psychos in the making!!!!"

Another user wrote, "Who is she? Make her famous same way that Biryani guy, that lady doctor and Pranit More got famous and shamed. Let people know who she is and let her face the consequences of her 'joke'.

A third user said, "If a man joked about doing this to a future daughter, he'd be condemned instantly. Why should the reaction be any different when the target is a boy? Children deserve the same protection and respect, regardless of gender."

Pranit More Rs 370 Biryani Row

The controversy stems from a crowd-work part of comedian Pranit More's stand-up show that caused a stir on social media. In the video, audience member Himanshu Jangra described a date on which he spent Rs 370 on chicken biryani and implied that he anticipated sexual closeness in return. Many claimed that the comment reduced women to transgender behaviours, which led to criticism. The comedian's decision to laugh along with the story rather than question it infuriated many viewers.

As old videos of stand-up comedians continue to resurface online, the spotlight on India’s comedy scene is only growing stronger. Internet users are increasingly revisiting past performances, with debates over accountability, context and freedom of expression.
