The Delhi High Court has strongly criticised rapper Honey Singh’s song Volume 1, calling it 'grossly vulgar' and derogatory towards women. As per reports, the court ordered the immediate removal of the track from all platforms. The observations came while hearing a plea filed by Hindu Shakti Dal seeking deletion of the song’s audio and video.
Justice Purushaindra Kaurav remarked that the court’s conscience was 'shocked' by the content, adding that even the title was too vulgar to be mentioned in the official order.
This development comes days after Honey Singh performed portions of the same track at a Mumbai concert, which has also landed in trouble. An FIR has been filed against the event organisers for alleged violations during the March 28 show at MMRDA Grounds, where laser lights were reportedly used in a restricted zone near an airport despite prior restrictions, raising safety concerns.
Apart from the legal concerns, the concert also saw a brief moment of tension when a female fan attempted to jump over a closed gate to enter the venue during Honey Singh’s performance. Security personnel quickly stepped in to stop her, but the situation escalated for a short while as she reportedly became agitated and used abusive language after being denied entry.
