The plot of Dhurandhar 2 centred on Jaskirat Singh Rangi (Ranveer), an Indian spy who was recruited to participate in an anti-terror operation in Pakistan by Ajay Sanyal (Madhavan), the head of the Indian Bureau of Investigation. To demonstrate how Ajay and his group of spies operated from within to keep India secure, the movie wass interwoven with real-life incidents like the 26/11 terror attack and the Kandahar hijack.

Dhurandhar 2 was released in other countries but was prohibited in Pakistan and the Gulf, much like its predecessor. The production, which was shot extensively in a number of locales, including Punjab, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Thailand, created a vast visual canvas, with some foreign locations serving for scenes set in Pakistan.
