BAFTA Nominations 2026 Snubs: The nominees for the 2026 BAFTA film awards were finally unveiled in London on Tuesday, January 27. Presented by David Jonsson and Aimee Lou Wood in a livestream from the U.K. Academy’s headquarters. The lineup of nominations has raised eyebrows among many award watchers after Wicked For Good and several other films were snubbed at the BAFTA Nominations 2026, while two films from Warner Bros.- One Battle After Another and Sinners, emerged atop the pack as expected, dominating the list.
BAFTA Nominations 2026 Snubs List
Wicked: For Good
The musical sequel Wicked: For Good appeared on eight longlists, including acting, score, and sound categories. However, the film earned two nods in the costume and hair and make-up. Following its Oscar snubs last week, Wicked didn't see much recognition at BAFTA either. Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande missed out on acting nominations and the film was excluded from main categories such as best film, director and screenplay.
Nuremberg
Another significant snub is Nuremberg, directed by James Vanderbilt and starring Russell Crowe, which missed out in the main category. Despite strong initial performance and longlist mentions, the film missed out on nominations, as per Deadline.

Foreign-language Films Without Sentimental Value Snubbed
Foreign-language films have been recognised by the British Academy, such as All Quiet on the Western Front, which even broke records in 2023. However, this year, things turned out to be different. Apart from Sentimental Value, it's been notably quiet. Films like Just an Accident” and “Sirat,” despite winning Palme d’Ors and receiving critical acclaim, only made it into the film, not in the English language category.
The Secret Agent received a nomination for original screenplay, but Oscar 2026 nominee Wagner Moura, not even advance past the first round of BAFTA voting, stands out as a major snub, as per Variety.
Sentimental Value, a Norwegian film directed by Joachim Trier, gave Stellan Skarsgard his very first BAFTA nomination at the age of 74.
The BAFTA winners will be presented with their awards at the 79th BAFTA film awards ceremony, scheduled for February 22, at London’s Royal Festival Hall.
