Thalapathy Vijay's Historic Win
Chennai's Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium was all decked up for the oath-taking ceremony of the first non-DMK, non-AIADMK chief minister in almost 60 years.
Vijay's party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), won 108 seats in the most recent Tamil Nadu assembly elections, making it the single biggest party. It overthrew the DMK and AIADMK, two powerful Dravidian parties that had ruled the state since the 1960s.
Trisha Krishnan, Vijay's Rumoured Relationship
Trisha and Vijay have appeared together in five films, including Ghilli (2004), Thirupaachi (2005), Aathi (2006), Kuruvi (2008), and Leo (2023). They are often regarded as one of the most popular couples in Tamil cinema.
Vijay's wife, Sangeeta Sornalingam, had filed for divorce in February, claiming an affair with an unidentified actress and citing infidelity, after nearly thirty years. A few days after this, in March, Vijay and Trisha attended a wedding reception in Chennai wearing a similar cream and gold ensemble. Their dating rumours were only fueled by this.
Trisha Krishnan visited Vijay's home after celebrating her 43rd birthday at the Tirupati Temple on the day of the election polls ( May 4, 2026). Despite this, they have remained silent regarding rumours about their relationship.
