In a major breakthrough against organised crime, gangster Goldy Dhillon has been detained in Madrid, Spain. The action was taken by Spanish authorities based on intelligence shared by the Punjab Police’s Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF).

According to reports, Dhillon, a wanted accused in multiple criminal cases, was taken into custody by Spanish authorities following a sustained international operation coordinated by Punjab Police. Officials had been tracking his movements abroad for a considerable period before his detention. He is a wanted accused of the June 13 murder of Janaki Das, the cashier at Shri Kumar Medical Hall in Chandigarh's Sector 11. The victim was shot dead in a targeted attack that sent shockwaves across the city.

Preparations Underway To Bring Him To India

Following his arrest, Dhillon, who was running a major criminal network from abroad, may soon be brought back to India. Indian security agencies had been searching for him for a long time. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had even announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh for information leading to him. After his detention, the process to extradite him to India is likely to begin soon. Once brought back, Chandigarh Police may question him in connection with the murder of Das.

Fled India In 2022

Dhillon had fled India in 2022 and was living abroad since then. On June 13, he claimed responsibility for the killing of Cashier in Chandigarh. After this incident, Indian security agencies intensified their search for him, and he has now been arrested. Dhillon is originally from Rajpura in Punjab. He was earlier involved in cases of assault and intimidation, after which his name became linked with a notorious criminal gang. At one point, his name was also associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, but he later separated from it.
