US President Donald Trump on Wednesday grabbed attention at the G7 Summit in France with a light-hearted but bold remark as he joined world leaders in Evian-les-Bains. His presence at the three-day summit is already much talked about, as it comes shortly after he announced a peace agreement with Iran.

Trump’s 'Boss' remark goes viral

Trump arrived late to a morning session chaired by French President Emmanuel Macron. As he entered the meeting room where leaders were already seated, he jokingly said, “I’m the boss.” The comment drew laughter from the leaders present. Macron responded warmly, greeting him with a smile and asking, “How are you?” to which Trump replied, “Good, thank you.”

Netizens Criticise Trump's Remark

The video, posted on X by the White House Rapid Response account quickly went viral, drawing mixed reactions online. While some users praised him and supported his remarks, others criticised his tone and comments, sparking a wider debate among netizens. A user wrote, “You are the joke of the world. Try to stay awake today. You are the joke of the world. Try to stay awake today.” Another user wrote, “Be honest, he doesn't have the slightest clue about what's going on.”

A third user commented: “Really? You just got defeated by small speed boats and cheap drones while bending over and begging Iran to stop. Now you're about to pay them more than Obama did and Iran will continue to enrich Uranium cause they know you're weak and what you gonna do? Pay them more?”

Meanwhile, French officials are expected to see the summit as successful, especially since Trump stayed for the entire event and signed the final G7 communique. This marked a contrast from a previous summit in Canada, where Trump had left early. Earlier in the day, Trump emphasised the memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Iran is “not final.” He warned that the US would resume military action if he is unhappy with how the deal unfolds.

While addressing reporters alongside Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Trump said, "It's a memorandum of understanding. And if I don't like it, we'll go back to shooting at them, dropping bombs on their heads.”
