United States President Donald Trump on Wednesday admitted to a tense phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, where he expressed frustration over Israel’s military escalation in Lebanon. The remarks come amid rising tensions in the Middle East and ongoing conflict involving Israel, Lebanon, and Iran-linked groups.

Trump Admits Calling Netanyahu Crazy

In an interview published in the New York Post, Trump acknowledged the exchange after being asked whether he had confronted Netanyahu in blunt terms during a call on Monday. Trump confirmed the substance of the remarks, saying tensions were high over Lebanon. He said, “I did…I wouldn’t say angry. I was a little bit perturbed at his constant fighting with Lebanon.” Trump added, “At some point I said, ‘Bibi, we’ve got to stop this. We’ve got to stop it.’"

Trump further stated he still maintains a close working relationship with Netanyahu despite the confrontation. “We’ve done well together… I like Bibi a lot," he added. According to the Axios report, which cited an unidentified US official, Trump had a heated phone conversation with Netanyahu. Trump reportedly said to him, “You’re f****** crazy. You’d be in prison if it weren’t for me. I’m saving your a**. Everybody hates you now. Everybody hates Israel because of this.”

The conversation took place as Israel’s military operations in Lebanon intensified, drawing international concern and criticism amid a fragile truce between the US and Iran. Meanwhile, Trump claimed that Iran has agreed not to develop a nuclear weapon. He added that he may meet Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei in the future if ongoing developments go well.

Trump On Iran's Nuclear Plans

Speaking in an interview on the “Pod Force One” podcast, Trump said Iran has already agreed to give up any plans of building nuclear weapons. When asked about Khamenei’s role in talks with the US, Trump said the Iranian leader is actively involved and has strong influence over the process. He also said he believes Iran’s leadership has respect for him.
