PoK Protests: Anti-government protests in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) have entered their 24th day. More than 80,000 people gathered at Eidgah Ground in Rawalakot to protest against the Pakistani government on Thursday. During the demonstrations, protesters raised serious allegations against the Pakistani Army, accusing it of promoting terrorism and exposing growing public anger within the region.

PoK Leader Calls Out ‘Terrorist’ Tags

Addressing the gathering, Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) leader Sardar Aman Khan made serious allegations against the Pakistani Army. He claimed that it was the army itself that had armed Kashmiris in the past. “It was the Pakistan Army itself that handed guns to Kashmiris. And today, they have the audacity to call us terrorists,” Khan said.

He also referred to a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) event held in February last year, alleging that armed men carrying AK-47 rifles and swords openly marched through the city during the programme. Khan further claimed that the Deputy Commissioner of Rawalakot had granted permission and provided security for such rallies in the past.

Warning To Islamabad

“Deputy Commissioner Rawalakot, you used to organise rallies here with guns and swords. Do you remember? And you will call us terrorists. All these people are heirs of this land,” Khan added. He also warned Islamabad that if the 38 demands of the movement were not accepted and implemented, the issue would escalate beyond the current protests and could turn into a broader campaign. He demanded that Pakistan completely withdraw from PoK.

Earlier on Tuesday, thousands of demonstrators had gathered at the Eidgah Ground and reiterated that PoK is not part of Pakistan. This intense escalation was triggered by widespread public fury after Pakistani authorities reportedly imposed a severe two-week blockade on essential food supplies and rations, pushing an already aggrieved population to the brink.

At that time also, Khan had warned that persistent economic suppression could force residents to seek closer ties with India. He suggested that if the Pakistani establishment maintains its blockade on essential food supplies, "the remaining borders of PoJK could open up."
