Switzerland Bus Crash: A Dutch tour bus overturned in eastern Switzerland in a serious accident on Thursday (local time) leaving several people dead and others injured. Police stated that the accident took place between the villages of Susch and Zernez in the Alpine canton of Graubuenden. Rescue teams were sent to the scene following the crash.
48 People On Board
While police have not yet confirmed the exact number of people killed or injured in the accident, Swiss media reports mention that 48 people were travelling on the bus. A spokeswoman for ANVR, a Dutch travel industry association, told the Blick newspaper that the passengers were Dutch nationals. Images from the scene showed the tour bus lying overturned, with a large emergency response operation underway.
Bus Hit Crash Barrier
According to news agency AP, a police spokesman said the coach hit a crash barrier before overturning. No other vehicles were believed to have been involved in the accident. Several ambulances and five helicopters were deployed to the crash site as emergency teams worked to assist those involved.

Swiss President Reacts
Swiss President Guy Parmelin expressed shock and sadness over the accident. He offered condolences to the families of those who lost their loved ones and thanked the emergency responders involved in the rescue operation. Parmelin said that Swiss authorities would carry out a comprehensive investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the fatal crash.
