Iran-US War: Amid escalating tensions between the United States and Iran, multiple American military aircraft suffered damage during overnight ballistic missile strikes by Iran on the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan. The development marks another escalation in the ongoing conflict as both sides resume attacks against each other.

Iran Strikes Jordan Air Base, US Jets Damaged

According to report by CBS News journalist Jennifer Jacobs on X, the bombardment directly impacted key front-line assets, leaving one A-10 Thunderbolt "Warthog" with a missing wing while roughly eight F-15 fighter jets sustained light damage before being quickly returned to service. The attack was claimed by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a response to US Navy's targeting of Iranian oil tankers earlier in the week.

Despite American forces launching more than 30 Patriot interceptor missiles to defend the airbase, the incoming Iranian barrage managed to breach local defences to strike the aircraft infrastructure. The US has not yet issued official comment on the matter.

"Multiple American military aircraft suffered damage in strikes overnight on Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan, sources told  @JimLaPorta and me. One A-10 Thunderbolt, known as the Warthog, was struck and left with a missing wing. Roughly eight F-15s sustained light damage and were placed back into service. American forces in Jordan launched more than 30 Patriots missiles defending against the Iranian strikes," the post read on X.

Trump Answers When Will The War End

Earlier in the day, US President Donald Trump hinted that he isn't in any hurry to end the conflict. Speaking to reporters before departing aboard Air Force One for Dallas, Trump said that the war with Iran would end immediately after the midterm elections. He accused Tehran of prolonging the conflict in an effort to influence American voters. "I think the war is going to end immediately after the election," Trump said.

On being asked why he expected the conflict to end, Trump said, "Because they can't hold out any longer. They're desperate to try and affect the election so that we can get a nice, weak group of people in there and leave them alone and let them have their nuclear weapon." He added, "All they want is a nuclear weapon. And if they had a nuclear weapon, the whole world is in deep trouble."

On Tuesday also, he had warned Iran, stating that the US may hit Pickaxe Mountain after reports surfaced that Tehran had been rebuilding it. Addressing the midterm Republican convention, Trump said, “We notice there's a little ‌ activity at Pickaxe. ⁠I would advise Iran not to get cute because we will have to hit them very hard.”  Pickaxe Mountain is located near Iran’s damaged Natanz uranium-enrichment facility. It is described as a heavily protected underground complex with two deeply buried tunnel systems.
