Iran-US War: United States President Donald Trump on Friday (local time) warned of fresh military strikes against Iran, similar to those carried out during Operation Epic Fury, if Tehran fails to reach an agreement with Washington. His warning came after US envoy Tom Barrack said an attack could take place as soon as this weekend. Meanwhile, Iran has responded to the threats by warning Washington against further military action.
Trump's Latest Warning
Speaking at a Republican campaign rally in Florida, Trump said the US could launch another round of attacks if negotiations failed. However, he did not specify the conditions Tehran would have to meet to avoid military action. “We may do another little Epic Fury, or they'll agree. If they're smart, they'll just say, let's get down to business,” Trump said. He also hinted that the conflict would end either through negotiations or further action. “I see it ending one way or another, through agreement or otherwise,” he told a Florida-based news outlet.

US Envoy Hints Of Weekend Attack
Trump's remarks followed a statement by the US ambassador to Turkey Tom Barrack, who stated that military action could happen within days. “Could there be a strike this weekend? Absolutely. President Trump is very clear. He's open and available and accessible to a deal, and we've been at the table for months and months and months,” Barrack said during a podcast with Mario Nawfal.

Operation Epic Fury Again?
Trump’s latest strike warning has renewed attention on the Operation Epic Fury, which was conducted on February 28, 2026. The operation was the US’ joint campaign with Israel against Iran. According to a White House Press release issued in April, the objectives were to destroy Iran's ballistic missile and drone capabilities, its navy, and its defence industrial base.
The 38-day operation involved more than 13,000 targets being struck and over 10,200 air sorties. The US claimed that the campaign significantly weakened Iran's military capabilities. “Iran’s command and control structures have been shattered by more than 2,000 strikes, triggering leadership losses, paralysis, and military desertions,” the statement noted. Several Iranian leaders, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei were killed in the strikes conducted under the Operation Epic Fury.
What Is Driving Tensions?
The latest tension is driven by Washington’s demand that Iran stops pursuing nuclear weapons. However, Iran has not indicted any such plans and instead called for complete cessation of the military campaign against Iran and its allies across all fronts.
Meanwhile, Iran has warned Washington against further strikes. According to Reuters, an Iranian official threatened action against undersea communication cables and military bases if the US and Israel attacked again. “If Iran is attacked, there will be no more red lines...from undersea cables to military bases, including covert ones. US should not play with fire,” the official said.
