- Five-year-old Arjun has an IQ of 141, explores advanced science.
- Honored in Canada, member of Mensa and Intertel societies.
- Parents prioritize balanced development over academic pressure.
When most children are just beginning to learn words and numbers, five-year-old Arjun Vishal Prajapati is already asking questions about infinity, black holes and the origins of the universe. From exploring what happened before the Big Bang to understanding the human immune system, the young Indian-origin boy has developed an extraordinary appetite for learning.
With more than 3,000 books explored and membership of two internationally recognised high-IQ societies, Arjun has now received recognition at the Legislative Assembly of Ontario in Canada, the Indian Express reported.
Arjun, whose family has roots in Vadodara, Gujarat, was honoured at the provincial legislature on October 29. Member of Provincial Parliament Mary-Margaret McMahon presented him with a Certificate of Recognition and Achievement, acknowledging his intellectual accomplishments and admission to Mensa and Intertel at the age of four.
He was also introduced during the Assembly proceedings and attended the event with his parents, Dr Vishal V Prajapati and Mahitha Thota, and his younger sister, Aadya.
IQ Of 141 Places Arjun In 99.7th Percentile
The cognitive functioning of Arjun was evaluated through the Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scales, Fifth Edition (SB5), Indian Express reported. His score on the SB5 was a Full Scale IQ of 141, which is in the 99.7 th percentile.

His evaluation at the time included a Nonverbal IQ of 149, a Fluid Reasoning of 144 and a Working Memory of 146.
And these scores eventually earned him membership in Mensa International and Intertel by the time he was 4 years old. Any person who scores in the top two per cent of the population on a standard IQ test is normally eligible for Mensa. Intertel is a little more exclusive, requiring around the top one per cent.
Arjun has also received congratulatory letters from Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and Ontario Premier Doug Ford.
From Reading At 18 Months To Exploring 3,000 Books
Arjun's interest in books began well before he started formal schooling. He reportedly started recognising and reading simple words at around 18 months and gradually moved towards more advanced material.
By the age of five, he had explored more than 3,000 books covering subjects such as mathematics, astronomy, physics, biology, human anatomy, genetics, history and microbiology.
His parents even keep eight to 10 books in their family car so that he has something to read during journeys.
Mathematics is among his favourite subjects. He knows multiplication tables from one to 20 and enjoys exploring numerical patterns, squares, cubes, arithmetic and logical reasoning. He also engages with concepts generally introduced to much older schoolchildren, including some at approximately the Grade 5 level.
His curiosity extends to astronomy and scientific questions about black holes, galaxies and the universe.
Studies Human Physiology, Visits Harvard And MIT
Beyond reading, Arjun has pursued academic enrichment in subjects including Human Physiology and Cell Biology through Northwestern University's Centre for Talent Development.
His interests include the cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological and immune systems, as well as genetics and microbiology. He has also explored how HIV affects CD4 T-cells and how the immune system protects the body against infections.
Arjun has visited Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he had an opportunity to explore the campuses of two internationally recognised academic institutions.
He admires scientists such as Albert Einstein and Sir Isaac Newton and enjoys learning about their contributions to science.
Parents Want Him To Learn Without Academic Pressure
Despite his exceptional assessment results and growing recognition, Arjun's parents say they do not want his childhood to revolve solely around academic achievements.
His father, Dr Vishal V Prajapati, is a physician and clinical researcher originally from Vadodara, Gujarat, while his mother, Mahitha Thota, is a lawyer originally from Hyderabad, Telangana.

The family follows a parenting approach centred on encouraging rather than forcing a child's interests. They provide Arjun with opportunities to explore different subjects without imposing a rigid academic schedule or predetermined career expectations.
His parents also stress the importance of friendships, play, creativity, exercise and emotional health.
For them, his intellect is just one aspect of who he is. They want him to be able to develop his talents, to be raised to be kind, caring, humble and free to follow his dreams.
