Iran-US Tensions: As tensions continue to rise between the United States and Iran, the US Embassy in Amman, Jordan, has issued a security alert for Americans. In the advisory released on Saturday, the embassy warned that the security situation in the region remains unpredictable and could worsen without warning. It also urged Americans to remain alert and consider leaving the region if the situation escalates.

What Does The Security Alert Say?

The embassy has advised Americans currently in the Middle East to exercise extra caution and stay vigilant. It has warned that flight cancellations, temporary airspace closures and travel disruptions may happen as tensions continue to rise. The advisory also said some airlines have delayed restarting normal flight schedules, while others have cancelled certain routes.

Furthermore, the embassy has urged Americans to consider leaving or be prepared to leave if the security situation worsens. For Americans outside the Middle East, the embassy has advised them to seriously reconsider travel to or through the region.

Embassy Warns Of Possible Threats To US Interests

The embassy said US diplomatic facilities have been targeted in the past and warned that Tehran and Iran-backed groups could target US interests overseas. According to the advisory, possible targets could include US embassies and consulates, American businesses and other locations linked to US citizens.

Middle East Tensions Continue To Rise

The security alert comes as tensions between Washington and Tehran continue to escalate. The US has continued military strikes against Iranian targets, while commercial vessels have come under attack in the Strait of Hormuz. President Donald Trump on Saturday warned that the US will continue carrying out heavy strikes after recent drone attacks targeting Kuwait and key shipping routes.

Earlier on Friday, The Wall Street Journal reported, quoting US officials, that Trump "has ordered the military to launch a fresh attack on Iran that could begin as soon as this weekend and last a few days.” This has added to growing uncertainty over peace in the Middle East.

Iran's Warning To US

Meanwhile, Iran has condemned the US military action, warned neighbouring countries against supporting Washington and launched retaliatory operations in parts of the region. According to Iran's semi-official Tasnim news agency, Iran has prepared an "extensive" plan to respond if the US or Israel attacks its infrastructure. Tasnim quoted a senior security official as saying the plan was made after recent US media reports claimed that the US and Israel could carry out strikes on Iranian infrastructure.
