Amid ongoing tensions between the United States and Iran, a recent intelligence report suggests that Tehran’s military rebuilding efforts are continuing despite setbacks in earlier strikes. This development has raised concerns that Iran is restoring its capabilities faster than expected, which could again raise security risks in the region.

Intel Warns Iran Is Rebuilding Military Power

According to a report by CNN, citing US officials, Iran restarted its drone production on April 8, following a ceasefire that was brokered by Pakistan. Despite earlier US-Israeli strikes that had damaged its infrastructure, Iran is rebuilding its military capabilities including drone systems and weapons production facilities. Drones are considered one of Iran’s most important weapons in its ongoing conflict.

Drone Capability Still Intact

The report claimed that about 50 per cent of Iran’s drone capability is still intact. Tehran is also repairing missile sites, launch systems, and production lines that were damaged during the strikes. As per reports, this rebuilding can allow Iran to become a regional threat again if conflict resumes. A US official told CNN, “The Iranians have exceeded all timelines the IC (Intelligence Community) had for reconstitution.” This implies that Iran is recovering faster than expected.

Is China Helping Iran?

Multiple reports further suggest that Iran is rebuilding quickly due to support from countries like China and Russia. It is claimed that China has provided some components used in missile production, although this has been limited due to US restrictions. In an interview with CBS, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed that "China gives a certain amount of support (to Iran) and particular components of missile manufacturing".

However, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun rejected these claims, stating they are "not based on facts." Earlier, during his Beijing visit, US President Donald Trump had also claimed that China had assured him it would not provide any assistance or send weapons.

Despite earlier reports of heavy damage, US intelligence now suggests Iran still has significant missile, drone, and air defence capabilities. CENTCOM commander Admiral Brad Cooper had said, “Operation Epic Fury significantly degraded Iran's ballistic missiles and drones while destroying 90 per cent of their defence industrial base, ensuring Iran cannot reconstitute for years.”

However, intelligence assessments suggest Iran is recovering faster than that estimate.
