Tensions between the US and Iran have escalated further after a fresh exchange of threats between Washington and Tehran. Hours after US President Donald Trump warned of strikes on Iranian infrastructure on Wednesday, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) also issued a warning against the US.
IRGC Issues Strong Warning To US
In a statement, carried by Iranian media outlets, IRGC warned that any further conflict can lead to major consequences for the US. The threat is significant as the last time Washington observed national mourning after an attack was following the September 11, 2001, terror attacks.

Iran Responds To Trump’s Threat
Iran also stressed that it would respond and widen the targets if the US attacked any bridge or power plant inside the country. Tehran’s response came after Trump warned Iran that any attack on ships in the Strait of Hormuz would result in US strikes on Iranian infrastructure. He specified targets like bridges or power plants, including those near Tehran, in response to missile, rocket, or drone attacks.
He wrote on Truth Social, “From this point forward, any time the Islamic Republic of Iran shoots at a ship in the Strait of Hormuz, whether it be by Missile, Rocket, Drone, or any other device or weapon, the United States will bomb and destroy ONE BRIDGE OR POWER PLANT, including those located next to, or in, the Capital City of Tehran. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP.”
Iran-US Tensions Escalate
Tensions in West Asia intensified on Wednesday as fresh missile strikes and military operations across the region were reported. Air defence sirens were activated in Jordan’s port city of Aqaba amid ongoing exchanges of attacks between the US and Iran. According to the Jordanian military, four missiles launched during an Iranian strike were intercepted, while two others fell in "uninhabited areas."
