He clarified that Iran has not closed the Strait and continues to support safe maritime movement despite ongoing regional tensions.

Addressing reporters in Delhi, Araghchi said that ships are allowed to pass through the Strait. However, he added that vessels linked to countries involved in conflict with Iran continue to face restrictions. He alleged that insecurity in the region has been caused by ongoing tensions and external aggression.
“As far as we are concerned, the Strait of Hormuz is open, and all vessels can pass except the vessels of those countries that are fighting with us... We have insecurity in the region because of the US aggression,” Araghchi said.
He expressed hope that the strait would be “fully reopened,” while also talking about management of the waterway. Araghchi said as the waterway lies within the territorial waters of Iran and Oman, both countries should jointly manage its administration to ensure secure and orderly navigation for international trade.

Araghchi added, “The Strait is located in the territorial waters of Iran and Oman... Everything should be managed by Iran and Oman. This is what we are now consulting with each other to make sure that the arrangements, and that there will be a good administration in the Strait of Hormuz in the future, which guarantees the safe passage of all vessels.”
Araghchi Responds To Trump's Remark
The minister further responded to US President Donald Trump’s remarks about Iran’s nuclear program. Araghchi stated that Iran has never wanted nuclear weapons and previously proved this by agreeing to the 2015 nuclear deal. He said Iran’s nuclear program is peaceful and will continue to remain peaceful. He emphasised that the country is ready to build international trust in its intentions.
“We share the same opinion. Iran has never wanted nuclear weapons. We have proved that when we signed the deal in 2015, we said time and again that we don't want nuclear weapons, and this is not our policy. We have a peaceful nuclear program, and we have always been ready to build confidence that this program is peaceful and will remain peaceful,” Araghchi said.
