Apple has gone through a leadership overhaul recently, with John Ternus taking the driver's seat this time. Tim Cook has not exited the company yet, though, and has taken the seat of Executive Chairman. With this transition, you can also expect a change in who presents the events from now on, and with Apple's Surprise and Shine event right around the corner, it is expected that John Ternus will lead the show this time. However, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has suggested that Apple's board of directors will not attend the event.
With the iPhone 18 Pro series and iPhone Ultra, Apple's first foldable expected at the Surprise and Shine event, here's what you can expect this time from the event happening on September 9 this time.
Tim Cook To Skip The Event?
Tim Cook might not show up in the iPhone event video, according to Mark Gurman's Power On newsletter. However, he cited a few unnamed sources and suggested that Cook will attend the event from the VIP section on September 9. This will instantly allow Apple to bring its new CEO, John Ternus, into the limelight. With that, Ternus could be the first-ever CEO to showcase Apple's long-anticipated foldable iPhone if it makes its way to the showcase this time. Ternus is more of a hardware guy and was the Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering at Apple.
While speaking about Cook's role at Apple now as the exec chair, it is expected that he will be playing a crucial role, dealing with White House and Beijing as the memory shortage surges.
Tim Cook is reportedly giving up his current office at Apple Park as John Ternus takes over as Apple's new CEO. Cook's office is located in Section 7 of the campus and will now be used by Ternus. Cook, who is moving into the executive chairman role, is expected to get a new office elsewhere on the Apple campus.
According to the report, Cook will continue to receive a base salary of $2 million (around Rs. 18 crore) next year. He is also set to receive stock units worth $45 million, which comes to roughly Rs. 4.25 billion.
Apple Event on September 9: What to Expect
John Ternus officially became Apple's CEO on September 1, and he could make his first major keynote appearance just days later. With Apple Park as the venue for the event, September 9 could hold a lot of surprises, as the name of the event, 'Surprise and Shine', suggests.

The iPhone 18 Pro series is expected to be the main showstopper, while Apple's first book-style foldable iPhone could also make its way to the audience this time, which is reportedly being called the iPhone Ultra. The Apple Watch Series 12 and AirPods 5 are also expected to make an appearance.
