Almost a decade after its launch, Bloodborne is still one of the most requested PlayStation exclusives to receive a remake or improvements in performance. Now, a new report states that behind the scenes a remake was heavily considered. According to the report's claim, Bluepoint Games (the devs behind the acclaimed Demon’s Souls remake) pitched in early 2025 for a Bloodborne remake and developed it as well. The proposal was ultimately declined, despite internal interest (as evidenced by the growing range of potential crossovers that could bring on a remake), adding to long-waiting fans' disappointment that modern technology didn't bring us an update to this gothic horror classic.

Bluepoint’s Bloodborne Remake Pitch

It was published on October 9 2023 According to a new report by Jason Schreier over Bloomberg, Bluepoint Games pitched a remake of Bloodborne after Sony cancelled the studio’s then live service God of War project back in January 2025. While Sony felt the project was financially reasonable, FromSoftware is said to not have been interested in remaking the game at all.

Events Leading to Bluepoint’s Shutdown

Bluepoint Games was bought by Sony in 2021. The team began working on a live service God of War title starring Atreus, following their contribution to Santa Monica Studio's God of War Ragnarök. The game, which reportedly revolved around cooperative play and a Hades-based storyline. But development woes and Sony’s wider retreat from live service games resulted in the project being scrapped.

After this, Bluepoint pitched several ideas, including the Bloodborne remake. Sony declined the studio’s proposals and later chose to close the firm last month. The studio will officially close this month, and around 70 employees are expected to be laid off.

Why Bloodborne Still Matters

Launched as a PS4 exclusive in 2015, Bloodborne is stuck at 30fps and so far has not had the benefit of a PS5 performance patch or PC port. One of the greatest games In history, it is thus all the more sinister that fans await an update on the game.
