Paris Saint-Germain enter the new season as the defending champions after successfully retaining the trophy in 2025-26. Luis Enrique's side defeated Arsenal on penalties in the final in Budapest to claim their second Champions League title.
However, the spotlight will once again be firmly on the traditional European giants, with Real Madrid looking to add another trophy to their record haul under Jose Mourinho.
Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Liverpool and Arsenal will also be among the clubs hoping to challenge for European glory.
Real Madrid: 15-Time European Champions
No club has won the European Cup/Champions League more times than Real Madrid. The Spanish giants have lifted the trophy 15 times, establishing a record that remains comfortably ahead of AC Milan's seven titles.
Madrid's dominance stretches back to the competition's earliest years, when they won the first five editions between 1955-56 and 1959-60. Their most recent triumph came in 2024, when they defeated Borussia Dortmund at Wembley.
With Mourinho now back at the helm, Madrid will hope to revive their European pedigree and challenge for a 16th crown.
PSG Eye Third Consecutive Champions League Title
Paris Saint-Germain have transformed their European fortunes in remarkable fashion. After winning their maiden Champions League crown in 2024-25, PSG successfully defended their title in 2025-26.
PSG will therefore begin the 2026-27 campaign chasing an extraordinary third consecutive Champions League title.
According to UEFA's official records, 22 clubs have won the European Cup or Champions League. Real Madrid lead the list with 15 titles, followed by AC Milan with seven, while Liverpool and Bayern Munich have six each. Barcelona have won the competition five times.
