Sachin Siwach Wins Gold At Commonwealth Games 2026, Beats Namibia’s Tryagain Morning Ndevelo In 60kg Final

India’s Sachin Siwach produced a stunning comeback to win the men’s 60kg gold medal at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, defeating Namibia’s Tryagain Morning Ndevelo in a dramatic final on Saturday.

Trailing after the opening two rounds, Sachin turned the contest around when it mattered most. The Indian boxer came out aggressively in the final round and forced a standing count on Ndevelo before sealing a hard-fought 3-2 split decision to claim India’s sixth boxing gold of the Games.

Sachin turns the tide in the final round

The bout looked to be slipping away from Sachin after the first two rounds, with Ndevelo holding the advantage.

However, the Indian refused to give up. He increased the pace in the final round, landed several clean punches and forced the referee to issue a standing count against the Namibian. His late dominance convinced three of the five judges, helping him complete a memorable comeback victory.

Lovlina settles for silver

Olympic medallist Lovlina Borgohain narrowly missed out on the gold medal in the women’s 70kg category.

She lost 1-4 by split decision to Australia’s Emma-Sue Greentree and had to settle for the silver medal despite another determined performance.

Five Indian women strike gold

India enjoyed another outstanding day in the women’s boxing events, with Jaismine Lamboria, Preeti Pawar, Sakshi Chaudhary, Arundhati Choudhary and Priya Ghanghas all winning gold medals.

Preeti Pawar started India’s golden run with a commanding 5-0 victory over Canada’s Scarlett Delgado in the women’s 54kg final. The 22-year-old controlled the contest from the opening round and never allowed her opponent back into the fight.

World champion Jaismine Lamboria then defeated defending champion Michaela Walsh of Northern Ireland 5-0 in the women’s 57kg final after growing stronger as the contest progressed.

Sakshi Chaudhary also produced a dominant display, beating England’s Ruby White 5-0 to win the women’s 51kg title.

Arundhati Choudhary continued India’s impressive run with a comfortable 5-0 victory over England’s Chantelle Reid in the women’s 70kg final.

Priya Ghanghas completed the golden sweep in the women’s 60kg category after edging Canada’s Marie-Bathoul Al-Ahmadieh 4-1 in a closely fought contest.

Jadumani Singh claims silver

Jadumani Singh added another medal to India’s tally with a silver in the men’s 55kg event.

The Indian boxer made a bright start and edged the opening round against Australia’s Jye Dixon. However, Dixon responded strongly in the remaining rounds to secure a unanimous 5-0 victory and the gold medal.

Jadumani had reached the final after a dominant 5-0 win over Namibia’s Philip Haoseb in the semi-finals.

India’s medal haul grows

Sachin’s fighting comeback capped another memorable day for Indian boxing, with six gold medals and two silvers added to the country’s tally. With the boxing competition still underway, India will look to continue its strong run and add more medals in the remaining events.
