Former Afghanistan cricketer Shapoor Zadran is in a critical condition and is fighting for his life The 38-year-old is undergoing intensive medical care after a serious medical complication. Zadran’s family has described his condition as “extremely serious” following a drop in his white blood cell count to a critical level.

Prayers Flood On Social Media

According to reports, doctors are closely monitoring his progress during a crucial phase of treatment. Messages wishing the former left-arm pacer, a speedy recovery and good health have been pouring in on social media. In a post on X, Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi stated that he spoke to Zadran’s family and expressed concern over the situation. He wrote, “Had a heartfelt call with Shapoor Zadran’s brother today. Truly saddened to hear about his condition. You’ve always been a fighter on the field, and I know you’ll fight this too. Praying for your speedy recovery.”

Cricketer Umar Akmal also shared worrying images of Zadran from the hospital, raising concern among fans. He wrote on X, “Zardan brother is like a buddy to me. I am wishing him speedy recovery. Ameen.”

The image has triggered an outpouring of prayer messages online, with supporters wishing him a speedy recovery. A user wrote, "Get well soon brother Shapoor Zadran True warrior of Afghan cricket. Sending prayers for a full & speedy recovery. Ameen Respect to you too Umar bhai for standing by your friend. Cricket has no borders!" Another user wrote, "Allah sehat De jaldi se jaldi Dobara FIR maidanon Mein Najar Aaye bhai acchi cricket khelte hue."

Who Is Shapoor Zadran?

Born on July 8, 1987 in Logar Province, Zadran played for the Afghanistan national cricket team across formats. As a refugee in Pakistan’s Peshawar, he started playing cricket along with Mohammad Nabi, Asghar Stanikzai, and Dawlat Zadran. He made his debut for Afghanistan against Chitral in the 2003/4 Inter-District Senior Tournament. Zadran then made his international debut against Oman in the 2004 ACC Trophy. He has played 44 One Day Internationals and taken 43 wickets. Zadran retired in 2025 at the age of 37, after a notable career spanning more than a decade.
