CWG 2026: Priya Clinches Women’s 60kg Boxing Gold, India's Fourth In Boxing

CWG 2026: India's Priya Ghanghas staged a remarkable comeback to win the women's 60kg boxing gold medal at the Commonwealth Games 2026, defeating Canada's Marie-Bathoul Al-Ahmadieh 4-1 by split decision in the final on Saturday.

Facing the 2026 Boxam International bronze medallist, Priya overcame an early setback to hand India its fourth boxing gold medal of the Games, further cementing the country's dominance in the ring.

Priya narrowly lost the opening round 2-3 as the Canadian edged the early exchanges. Refusing to let the contest slip away, the Indian boxer bounced back emphatically in the second round, claiming a 4-1 verdict with a composed and aggressive display that swung the momentum in her favour.

Earlier, Sakshi Choudhary captured the women's 51kg gold medal with a dominant 5-0 unanimous decision over England's Ruby White, while Jaismine Lamboria also struck gold in the women's 57kg category. India had already opened its boxing medal account with a silver medal from Hitesh Gulia after he finished runner-up in his weight category.

With Priya's victory, India now boasts four boxing gold medals and one silver, making it one of the nation's most successful boxing campaigns at the Commonwealth Games.
