According to the Hindu calendar, Purnima is regarded as very auspicious and is observed on the 15th day during Shukla Paksha. In addition, Vaishakh Purnima marks the birth anniversary of Lord Buddha, which is celebrated as Buddha Purnima. The event is called Chitra Purnimi in Tamil Nadu. During this day of fasting, devotees worship Lord Satyanarayan and offer Arghya to the Moon seeking happiness and prosperity.
