Matangi Jayanti 2026: According to the Hindu Panchang, Goddess Matangi manifested on the Tritiya (third day) of the Shukla Paksha during the month of Vaishakh. Consequently, this day is celebrated as Matangi Jayanti. Goddess Matangi is the ninth among the Ten Mahavidyas. She is also referred to as 'Tantric Saraswati' due to her many attributes that mirror those of Goddess Saraswati. Devotees worship her in various forms, such as Raja Matangi and Sumukhi Matangi. The Goddess's eight principal powers work for the welfare of her devotees.

Matangi Jayanti 2026: Significance

It blesses her followers with a divinely enlightened speech, and knowledge of difficult topics comes easily to them. She is considered the goddess of "Vak Siddhi," and through her devout worship, an ignorant man becomes learned.

Matangi Jayanti 2026: Rituals

The idol of the goddess is first offered prayers in the form of incense and light in Matangi Jayanti. Flowers, coconut, and bhog are offered to the Goddess. Then comes the offering of Aarti to the Goddess and chanting of her mantra. Kanya Puja ceremony is one such significant ceremony held during this festival, wherein the young girls symbolise the Goddess, and offerings of food are made to her. Kirtans and Jagrans are organised in the temples.
