Fiction Books Better Than Movies: Some books are written so well that their movie adaptation could not do justice to the original text. Such books are so cinematic that they offer a deeper, more personal experience with better textual details and imaginative freedom. Here is a list of four fiction books which have managed to surpass the films made after them through their text, which features deeper psychological and emotional layers, with the sheer brilliance of the narrative that their movie version never surpassed.
4 Fiction Books So Good They Outshine Movies
1. The Giver by Lois Lowry
In The Giver by Lois Lowry, a community devoid of pain, colours, and memories is created in an attempt to establish harmony in it. Being selected for inheriting the lost memories of happiness and sadness in their community, the protagonist, twelve-year-old Jonas, learns the horror of the imposed "Sameness." When the truth of love, death, and freedom unravels before him, Jonas takes a risk with his life and escapes from his community.

2. The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne
Nathaniel Hawthorne's The Scarlet Letter takes place in 17th-century Boston among the Puritans. This story of public disgrace focuses on Hester Prynne, who bears the mark of a scarlet letter "A" for her adultery. Besides being a work of fiction, this novel also serves to portray a psychological story of guilt, hypocrisy, and inner darkness. In particular, the role of the tormented reverend Arthur Dimmesdale deserves special attention here.

3. The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls
Jeannette Walls’s book, The Glass Castle, is a harrowing account of a turbulent life characterised by poverty and movement in search of a better place. The story depicts the life of her and her siblings growing up in makeshift homes with parents whose behaviour was extremely eccentric, living through difficult times and yet remaining devoted and creative in their imagination of a magnificent glass house.

4. The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins
Paula Hawkins’ book, The Girl on the Train, tells the story of Rachel, an alcoholic divorcee whose daily activities involve taking a train ride where she keeps imagining herself in a couple’s life whom she spies on from her train window. When this couple goes missing, she finds herself in trouble as she tries to separate false memories from deliberate manipulations. This book, in comparison to its movie version, is significantly more thrilling and complex due to its multiple plot turns.
