DIY Hair Masks For Summer:  India is currently witnessing its peak summer days. With rising temperature and humidity, our scalp faces the repercussions. The scalp becomes easily greasy, itchy, and prone to dandruff, which causes more washes than usual, all of which result in clogged pores, weak roots and bad hair health in general.

However, if you are tired of those chemical-based, harsh hair products, here is a list of 7 DIY (do it yourself) hair masks, made with kitchen staple ingredients to absorb excess oil, soothe irritation, and restore the balance of your scalp.

7 DIY Hair Masks That Fix Sweaty Summer Scalp Fast

1. Tea Tree Hair Mask

Add 2 tbsp plain yoghurt with 2-3 drops of tea tree essential oil. Probiotics in yoghurt help soothe inflammation, and the antibacterial properties of tea tree oil deal with bacteria caused by sweat. Apply this hair mask on a wet scalp, massage lightly, and leave for 20 mins. Rinse off using cold water.

2. Aloe Vera Hair Mask

Mix 3 tbsp of pure aloe vera gel with 1 tsp lemon juice. The cooling effect of aloe helps keep your scalp moisturised without making it greasy, and citric acid in lemons controls oil production on the scalp. Massage it into your scalp, cover with a cloth, wait for 10-15 minutes, and rinse off after shampooing.

3. Multani Mitti Hair Mask

This one is my personal favourite. Use 4 tbsp of powdered fuller's earth, also known as Multani mitti, mixed with rose water and curd to keep hair sweat-free and thriving. Apply an even layer and wait for 25 mins before rinsing.

4. Neem Hair Mask

Mix 2 tbsp of neem powder into yoghurt for a sweaty scalp. The antiseptic properties of neem help prevent dandruff, while the yoghurt will moisturise your hair. Leave for 20 minutes and wash with lukewarm water.

5. ACV Hair Mask

Mix 2 tbsp ACV with 1 cup water, and you can also add 1 tsp of honey for smooth hair. This hair mask balances the pH levels of your scalp, caused by sweat. Apply it for 5-10 minutes and then rinse as usual.

6. Fenugreek Hair Mask

Simply blend fenugreek seeds into powder form and mix with coconut milk to make a smooth-textured mask. Now, apply this hair mask to each strand of your hair. Let it sit on your hair for a good 10-15 minutes, rinse as usual.

7. Egg Hair Mask

Mix one egg with 2 tbsp of curd. Now, apply this hair mask for 10-15 minutes, rinse as usual. This hair mask is apt for your burned-in heat hairs and needs nutrition to make your mane look shiny and summer-ready.
