Weather Update: Rain lashed several parts of Delhi-NCR on Thursday night. This comes after residents of Delhi-NCR and nearby areas earlier received two alerts on their phones within a span of a few hours. The first “extremely severe alert” was issued around 8:53 pm, followed by another at 10:58 pm. The alerts warned of intense thunderstorms, strong winds, and heavy rainfall across parts of Delhi and western Uttar Pradesh over the next few hours.

Weather Alert In Delhi-NCR, UP

According to the alert, several cities including Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Aligarh, Mathura, and Agra are likely to be affected. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also warned of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, moderate to heavy rainfall, and hail in the region. During this period, wind speeds may range from 70-90 km/h and could peak up to 100 km/h in some areas, posing risks of damage and disruption over the next three hours.

IMD Orange Alert For Delhi

Additionally, the IMD has issued an orange alert for Delhi-NCR. According to the forecast, spells of light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, dust storms, and strong winds reaching 50-60 km/h, gusting up to 70 km/h is expected towards the night. Residents have been advised to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary outdoor movement during severe weather conditions.

A yellow alert remains in place for Friday, warning of light rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. Strong winds are also expected, with speeds reaching 40-50 km/h and gusting up to 60 km/h towards the morning and afternoon hours.

Delhi Sees Dip In Temperatures 

Meanwhile, Delhi also witnessed a slight dip in temperatures even as warm conditions continued across the city. According to the IMD, Safdarjung recorded a maximum temperature of 38.7 degrees celsius, which is 1.2 degrees Celsius below normal. At other monitoring stations, Ridge recorded a maximum temperature of 38.1 degrees Celsius; Ayanagar registered 38.0 degrees Celsius. Palam and Lodhi Road both recorded a maximum temperature of 37.8 degrees Celsius.
