Parliament Session Highlights: Lok Sabha on Wednesday passed the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026 after a reply from Union Minister Jitendra Singh. During his response, Singh targeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, alleging that he had used unparliamentary language and questioned whether he was aware of basic parliamentary norms.

The bill had witnessed a lengthy debate on Tuesday that began at 2 pm and continued until 11 pm. The discussion resumed in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday before the legislation was passed. The amended bill proposes stricter punishment for those involved in unfair practices in public examinations. It increases the jail term from the existing three to five years to a minimum of five years, which can be extended up to 10 years. The bill will now be taken up for discussion in the Rajya Sabha.

Meanwhile, the Rajya Sabha passed the Prevention of Insults to National Honour (Amendment) Bill, 2026 during today’s session. Both Houses of Parliament have been adjourned for the day. The Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha will now reconvene on Thursday at 11:00 am.

Earlier in the day, the opposition criticised the government over the alleged NEET-UG paper leak and its handling of Delhi CJP protests. Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi accused the Centre of failing to protect students' interests. During the debate, BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj used Gen Z slang while defending the government's response to the paper leak. Later, Priyanka Gandhi's remarks against newly appointed Education Minister Pralhad Joshi led to a sharp exchange in the House.
