Noida, a prominent corporate hub, has been witnessing intense protests since Friday, which has now turned violent. Workers across the city have been coming out on the streets, demanding better pay and hike. The situation has turned volatile in areas like Sector 60 and Phase 2, where incidents of arson, stone-pelting and clashes between protestors and police have been reported.

Video Captures Violence

Several videos showing the level of unrest have emerged online. A viral clip shows a large group of protesters storming a private office building. Employees inside were seen hiding in fear as loud noises of shouting and breaking glass filled the space. The footage clearly shows protestors moving around with sticks. Staff members rushed to find safe places as the chaos unfolded.

The video has sparked discussion online, with mixed comments from netizens. While some users have supported the protesting workers, others have condemned the violence. A user wrote, “How do people even have the time to go to a random office en masse and damage property? This needs serious organisational skills… Peak unemployment!" Another user said, “Underpay and overpay workers and not give them their due benefits and then hide in terror when they finally react. This is why unions are needed to negotiate for and on behalf of workers.”

DM Medha Urges Workers To Maintain Peace

Workers' protests continued on Tuesday in the Hosiery Complex in Phase 2, despite the state government announcing a wage hike for workers. Police personnel were deployed at the spot. District Magistrate of Gautam Buddha Nagar Medha Roopam urged labourers to maintain peace, stating that "violence is not the answer."

Speaking to reporters, Roopam said, “I thank the Chief Minister and the high-powered committee for accepting the workers' primary demand of wage increase. Furthermore, other directives have been issued, including ensuring that workers' wages are credited to their accounts before the 10th of every month.”
