Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on Thursday jointly condemned Pakistan-backed terrorism. They called for strong global action against terror groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM). Their remarks came during the 16th India-Japan Annual Summit, where both leaders also discussed wider regional issues.

Strong Condemnation Of Terrorism

Both leaders strongly opposed terrorism in all forms, including cross-border terrorism. They also referred to recent attacks in India, including the Pahalgam terror attack and the Red Fort blast in Delhi and called for strict action against those responsible. They also took note of the United Nations Security Council Monitoring Team Report dated 29 July 2025, which mentioned The Resistance Front (TRF).

The statement released by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) noted, “The two Prime Ministers unequivocally and strongly condemned terrorism and violent extremism in all its forms and manifestations, including cross-border terrorism from Pakistan. They condemned in the strongest terms the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April 2025, and took note of the United Nations Security Council Monitoring Team Report of 29 July 2025 mentioning The Resistance Front (TRF). They also condemned in the strongest terms the terror incident in Delhi on 10 November 2025.”

Call For Action Against Terror Groups

PM Modi and Takaichi also urged global action against major UN-listed terror organisations and their networks. The statement added, “They also called for concerted actions against all UN-listed terrorist groups and entities including Al Qaeda, ISIS/Daesh, Lashkar-e-Tayyiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and their proxies, and to take resolute actions to root out terrorists’ safe havens, eliminate terrorist financing channels and its nexus with transnational crime, and halt cross-border movement of terrorists.”

Key Agreements Between India And Japan

Apart from this, the two leaders also discussed broader global issues such as Ukraine, Africa, and Indo-Pacific security concerns. India and Japan also signed several agreements covering defence, clean energy, critical technologies, and economic cooperation. They also agreed to strengthen cooperation in shipbuilding, aviation, and logistics, along with new mobility frameworks.
