The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) gained attention after its protests in Delhi over the NEET paper leak and other student-related issues. While the party is led by its founder Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das, its Chief Spokesperson, emerged as a key figure representing the party during major developments, press interactions and discussions with the government.
Who Is Saurav Das?
Das, an independent investigative journalist based in Delhi, has a background in journalism, law, governance, transparency, and accountability-related reporting. According to his LinkedIn profile, Das is also the co-founder of the Climate Action Front. As a journalist, Saurav focuses on law, governance, judiciary, crime, transparency, and institutional accountability.
Saurav Das Career
A graduate in Journalism and Mass Communication, he began his professional writing career in 2020. He has written for several publications, including The Caravan, Article 14, Al Jazeera, The Wire, The Hindu and New Lines Magazine. Das is currently working on his debut book, “Complicit Silence: The Court's Role in India's Quiet Suffering,” which examines the role of the judiciary in issues related to justice, accountability and democratic institutions.
Educational Qualifications
Over the years, he has worked across multiple media and research roles, including as a Content Associate at GLG in Gurugram, a Video Post-Producer at Media.Monks in Noida, and a News Desk Intern at NDTV in New Delhi. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from Amity University.
Saurav Das' Works
An advocate for open governance and transparency, Das has used legal avenues to address challenges faced during his investigative reporting. During the COVID-19 pandemic, his intervention before a state High Court led to the Central Information Commission expediting appeals related to urgent pandemic information requests. He continues to engage in litigation and public interest cases on issues linked to accountability and governance.
Das’ interest in investigative journalism began during his college years in 2017. At the age of 18, he used the Right to Information (RTI) Act to uncover stories on public issues, with several of his investigations receiving national attention through media reports and publications.
