Delhi Metro Update: Amid ongoing student protests led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar over the NEET-UG paper leak issue, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced the closure of 17 metro stations from 7:30 am on Friday until further instructions. The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure in view of the heightened security situation in central Delhi.

Which Stations Will Remain Closed?

The closed stations include major interchange and high-footfall stations such as Rajiv Chowk, Central Secretariat, Supreme Court, Mandi House, ITO, and Janpath. At least 16 stations were closed on Thursday as well, with interchange facilities remaining available at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House and Central Secretariat.

Sharing the service update, the DMRC wrote on X, “Below mentioned Metro stations will be closed from 07:30 AM tomorrow (24th July, 2026) till further instructions. However, Interchange facility shall remain available at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House and Central Secretariat.”

Barakhambha Road
Supreme Court
Seva Teerth
Janpath
Mandi House
Central Secretariat
ITO
Delhi Gate

CJP Calls For Nationwide Protest

Earlier in the day, the CJP made a call for a nationwide peaceful protest, three days after a massive march to Parliament which saw thousands of students and other protestors. The CJP called upon the students and civil society groups to hold demonstrations across all the districts, managing permissions and logistics. In a post on the official Instagram page, the CJP appealed for a coordinated protest across the country under the slogan, "Every District. One Day. One Demand."

DU Issues Advisory

Meanwhile, the University of Delhi (DU) has also issued an official safety advisory, urging all students and faculty members to strictly refrain from participating in unauthorised assemblies and demonstrations at Jantar Mantar. In a post on X, the university informed students that demonstrations at Jantar Mantar are strictly regulated under the directives of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India and that participating in unlawful assemblies could lead to direct legal action by law enforcement authorities.
