Delhi Traffic Police Advisory: Amid the ongoing Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest at Jantar Mantar, the Delhi Traffic Police on Friday issued a fresh advisory. It has asked app-based transport, food delivery, quick-commerce and e-commerce platforms to regulate their services in areas where prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, are in force.

Services May Be Restricted In Affected Areas

Sharing the advisory on X, the Delhi Traffic Police explained that the move aims to ensure public safety and help maintain law and order in the affected areas. According to the advisory, ride-hailing services, app-based mobility platforms, food delivery apps, quick-commerce operators, logistics companies and other e-commerce services have been advised to regulate their operations in the notified areas for the duration of the restrictions.

Public Asked To Cooperate

The police said companies may temporarily geo-fence the affected locations or suspend ride and delivery services to and from these areas. The advisory urges people to avoid unnecessary travel to restricted areas and cooperate with Delhi Police while the prohibitory orders remain in place. Delhi Traffic Police said the measures are intended to protect drivers, riders, delivery partners and the public.

The advisory read, “In view of the prohibitory orders issued under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, restrictions are in force in the notified area to maintain public order and ensure public safety. As large gatherings and law & order concerns continue in the affected area, app-based mobility services, ride-hailing platforms, food delivery, quick-commerce, logistics and other e-commerce services are advised to suitably regulate their operations in the notified area for the duration of the prohibitory orders.”

Emergency Services To Operate

However, the advisory added that emergency services, including ambulances, fire services, authorised government vehicles, and other exempted categories will continue to operate as permitted.

CJP's Saurav Das Reacts

CJP Chief Spokesperson Saurav Das reacted to the advisory, calling it government's attempt to "LAY SIEGE to Jantar Mantar." He wrote on X, "The government wants to LAY SIEGE to Jantar Mantar! It wants to restrict and stop food delivery, water delivery, sanitation facilities, medical treatment, power lines, and people’s movement to the site! How much lower will they stoop? But remember. It only strengthens the resolve of those who refuse to surrender. We shall overcome!"
